Founded in 1974, Hamilton House is a recovery home for adult men seeking to recover from the effects of alcohol and drug abuse. Accommodating up to 22 recovery residents at a time, Hamilton House aims for restoration of dignity and self-respect in an understanding, supportive, and home-like environment. Residents acquire and/or renew skills needed for mature and responsible sober lifestyles free of alcohol and other drugs within a structured program using the Twelve Steps as the core of recovery, as well as individual and group substance abuse disorder counseling, life skills training, and relapse trigger identification and prevention tools. Hamilton House also focuses on building solid networks to sustain residents once they graduate by maintaining active connections with alumni. The house maintains long-standing relationships with community health providers, social service agencies, and community-based mutual support groups in order to provide a robust network of support for our residents. Measures of our clients' successful outcomes of treatment are continuing abstinence from substance use, participation in mutual support recovery groups, viable employment, involvement in educational activities, and the acquisition of supportive housing.
