About This Facility

HIR Wellness Institute is a survivor- and women-led organization that provides free, culturally responsive mental health and wellness services to Indigenous and underserved communities. They focus on supporting women and girls, while also offering care and resources for men and boys. Many of those they serve have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, or historical trauma. Their care model includes therapy, advocacy, and community programs, all grounded in Indigenous values and the CAM™ (Community Activated Medicine) framework.Build Strength Through Integrated Healing Their approach combines traditional Indigenous healing with occupational therapy, sound healing, and art therapy. Programs such as S.P.A.C.E. for Kids™ use sensory play to help children understand emotions and build resilience. For elders, services include stretching, home safety guidance, and the Peacemaker Massage to promote well-being. This whole-person care supports the mind, body, heart, and spirit, helping people heal across generations.Deepen Community Bonds with CreativityHIR Wellness offers unique programs that blend cultural practices with therapeutic support. Story Menders™ uses role-playing games to help youth process emotions and build confidence. The Elders Book Club provides a space for sharing stories and healing from historical trauma. Programs like Daughters of Tradition and Sons of Tradition focus on leadership and wellness for Indigenous youth, emphasizing cultural identity and community connection.Break Barriers with Free, Inclusive ServicesBy offering services at no cost, HIR Wellness removes financial barriers to mental health support. HIR Wellness also offers virtual mental health services as part of its commitment to accessible care. Their CAM™ Advanced Training Clinic also serves as a learning environment for future mental health professionals, ensuring that care is informed by both clinical expertise and cultural understanding. This model promotes sustainable, community-driven healing.
