Located in Altoona near Railroaders Memorial Museum, Pyramid Tradition House offers residential treatment for women with substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns. Pyramid Healthcare seeks to make treatment affordable, accepting most private insurance and Medicaid, as well as various finance options. Most residents stay at Tradition House for about 90 days.Therapy and 12-Step FacilitationTradition House offers individual therapy, combining cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and mindfulness-based treatment. Clients engage in group therapy, including relapse prevention and 12-Step groups to encourage long term recovery.Work and Life Skills TrainingPart of the halfway house model, residents can work, volunteer, and pursue education while receiving treatment as they progress through the SHOW (surrender, honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness) level system, with increased opportunities later in treatment. Women engage in life skills training, including resume building, job application support, goal setting, financial management, and housing planning. Tradition House offers a 12-week parenting track to help clients grow as mothers. Residents participate in education on a broad range of topics, including nutrition and spirituality.Medication-Assisted TreatmentClients already participating in medication-assisted treatment (MAT) via Methadone, Suboxone, and Vivitrol will be able to continue to receive it, while Tradition House will provide education and help arrange MAT for clients who wish to pursue it after their stay.Location and TransportationTradition House’s location offers convenient access to I-99, and Highway 36, making treatment accessible for residents throughout Blair County. For clients traveling via public transportation, bus lines 1, 3, 5, and 14 stop across the street from the building. Additionally, the Altoona Amtrak Station is only 4 blocks from Tradition House.
