The medical and mental health teams work together to treat the underlying issue to their clients’ problems, rather than just treating their symptoms. The first step in treating mental health conditions at Southcoast is psychotherapy. These therapy sessions are conducted by master’s or doctorate level practitioners with at least two years of experience. This program is specifically geared towards individuals 65+ years old. Geriatric patients often need help coping with loss, dealing with insomnia, managing medications and managing chronic pain and the impact it has had on mental health.Veteran ProgramSouthcoast works to address the challenges that many veterans face upon transitioning back to home life. Counseling for veterans at Southcoast addressing PTSD, anxiety, depression, substance use, anger and memory loss. For veteran clients who have developed a substance use disorder, Southcoast can recommend higher levels of care if needed.
