Operated by veterans, Tree House Recovery in Portland, Oregon, treats men and women struggling with alcoholism or drug addiction. They employ their mind-body method to create a holistic program that was created by Founder Justin McMillen. The goal is to “take the struggle of getting sober and use it to bond people together. In that struggle, there emerges a camaraderie made of trust, vulnerability, success, and support that feels like home.”Fitness TherapyTree House Recovery emphasizes physical fitness, as well as an adventurous spirit, in their intensive outpatient (IOP) program, which is why they include many activities. Previously mentioned, they have action-based induction (ABI) therapy, which incorporates various team-based drills adapted from Navy SEAL training exercises, specialized ESM fitness tailored for recovery created by Ryan Bain, and Recovery in Action, which is monthly events like Spartan Races and Tough Mudders to connect clients with the world around them. Their physical empowerment team accompanies and directs all these activities.ClienteleTree House Recovery's Oregon center cares for both men and women, and they have experience treating young adults, veterans, first responders, professionals, and musicians. Many on staff are in long-term recovery, so they can relate to clients' recovery journeys.Additional Men's Support with Day Treatment and LodgingIn addition to the IOP program that Tree House offers for everyone, they have a more intensive day (PHP) treatment for men and nearby lodging. This program includes a more highly structured approach to recovery with additional community-building opportunities. Clients tend to do 4 individual sessions per week and participate in 8 therapeutic modalities total.
