The Crisis Resource Center (CRC), run with the help of volunteers, provides short-term support in a safe, home-like setting.Special Programs to Meet Community NeedsFor women with substance use disorders, the Women’s Health and Recovery Project (WHARP) offers free, family-friendly counseling and support. Clients also work with a peer specialist and recovery navigator to find helpful community resources.Waukesha County also runs a co-responder program. In this program, mental health professionals work with law enforcement to respond to crisis calls. This helps people in crisis get the right care quickly while easing pressure on emergency rooms.Additional community-based programs at Waukesha County Behavioral Health Services include Comprehensive Community Services (CCS), which uses a team approach to care, and the Community Support Program (CSP), which offers home visits and 24/7 crisis support for adults with long-term mental illness.
