WestCoast Children's Clinic, established in 1979, is a non-profit community-based mental health agency in the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded by faculty and students of the Wright Institute graduate school, the clinic is dedicated to promoting the healthy development of children and families through therapy, education, and advocacy, regardless of family income.Specialized Support for Foster Youth and TraumaThe clinic offers a range of services, including long-term individual and family psychotherapy, parent guidance, and clinical case management. Specialized programs such as the Screening, Stabilization, and Transition (STAT) program provide mental health screening and assessment for children entering protective custody. WestCoast Children's Clinic serves children, adolescents, and families in the Bay Area, with a focus on those involved in the foster care system or exposed to trauma.Research and Advocacy for YouthIn addition to direct services, the clinic engages in research and public policy advocacy to improve mental health outcomes for youth. They have developed tools like the Commercial Sexual Exploitation-Identification Tool (CSE-IT) to aid in identifying at-risk children. The clinic also provides training and education programs to prepare the next generation of mental health professionals.
